Music, it just ain't what it used to be.

I was born in '91, so I am only 18 as of the time this is being posted, but even I can tell that the music today sucks for the most part compared to what used to be. I'm talking about the 60's - early 90's. I love the classics, such as Pink Floyd (probably my favorite band), The Steve Miller Band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Led Zeppelin, and so many more, the list is endless. But there is also a deep place in my heart for the Big Four of thrash, yeah, I'm talking about Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and last but definitely not least, Anthrax. Even some of the glam/hair bands of the 80's were alright. Then the 90's hit, killing off the brains of America with stuff like N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, and Brittney Spears. Which no one will argue that those three have led to even worse, such as Owl City, Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers. But in the midst of all the crappy pop that was being pumped into the youth, better bands were on the rise. Slipknot, Stone Sour, Trivium, Disturbed, Korn, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many others. But today if you try to find some good thrash metal bands, the closest you will come is Slipknot or Mushroom Head, don't get me wrong, I love those two bands, but they are no Anthrax. And now you have bands like Bring Me The Horizon, The Devil Wears Prada, and Suicide Silence. Their music sounds alright, but its a new kind of metal that those growing up in the 70's and 80's are used too, and the looks of the bands are just ridiculous, it's a bunch of scene kids who have learned to play instruments and scream into a mic. I guess what im trying to get to is, would it kill a band to actually sing coherently and sound like a bad ass metal band at the same time?

  2. I can´t really agree with you. I think that most music sucks, especially mainstream, but there are bands like pendulum, a perfect circle or celldweller that are just awesome.
